These two outstanding young string quartets are both heading for the West Cork Chamber Music Festival at the end of June. The Meliora will go on to present the National String Quartet Foundation’s summer tour in August and the Olympia Quartet, recently featured on the Tommy Tiernan show, have played concerts to great acclaim around Cork, Kerry and Dublin.
They return for their second appearance at St. Catherine’s with Mendelssohn’s gorgeous E flat major quartet, Borodin’s famous Nocturne and Janáček’s spectacular ‘Intimate Letters’. The quartets will come together to end the evening with the glorious first movement of Mendelssohn’s Octet.
