Frankie Gavin & Catherine McHugh
Fiddle icon Frankie Gavin—co-founder of the legendary Dé Danann in 1975 and multiple All-Ireland champion—stands among the greatest traditional Irish musicians of all time. Now performing with the same brilliance as ever after recovering from a serious illness, Gavin’s extraordinary career spans five solo albums, 18 with various Dé Danann/De Dannan line-ups, and a dozen collaborations with artists including Sharon Shannon, Stéphane Grappelli, Elvis Costello, Artie McGlynn, and even The Rolling Stones. In recent years, he has performed and recorded with the Roaring 20s Irish Orchestra and The Monte Carlo Philharmonic in Monaco, and is assembling a new Frankie Gavin & De Dannan line-up set to tour this summer.
He’s joined by Catherine McHugh, one of Ireland’s finest piano accompanists, whose East Galway roots infuse every performance with warmth and authenticity. Recently returned from a U.S. tour with Cherish the Ladies, McHugh also features on Gavin’s acclaimed 18-track album Port Éireann. Together, they ignite the stage with lightning-fast reels, soulful airs, and lively storytelling, delivering an unforgettable night of Irish music at its very best.
