Kinsale Folk Fest presents 'The Fynches' & 'Culture Kid'
We’re proud to announce the first chapter in the journey of the Kinsale Folk Fest – an intimate winter series that brings world-class music to the heart of Kinsale.
Join us in the beautiful setting of St Catherine’s Cultural Centre for an evening with The Fynches – one of Ireland’s most exciting emerging folk acts. On the night, we will also be joined by the talented Culture Kid to open the evening blending intimate & honest lyricism with expansive & melodic soundscapes.
The Fynches
Following the momentum of their recent single I Will Follow, Irish folk-rock band The Fynches return with Find It For Yourself - a toe-tapping ode to self-worth, from their forthcoming self-titled debut album, due for release on October 7th, 2025.
The brainchild of Ferdia Walsh-Peelo (lead vocals and guitar) and Oisín Walsh-Peelo (vocals and keys), The Fynches also comprise Camryn Teehan (drums), Fionn O’Neill (bass), and Julia-Maria (cello). Vocal melodies and soulful keys meet vibrant guitar lines, soaring strings, and a powerful rhythm section.
Brothers Ferdia and Oisín were raised in a musical family in County Wicklow. Composer and arranger Oisín honed his skills touring and recording with bands such as Villagers, Flyte, Hudson Taylor, and Bombay Bicycle Club. A natural frontman, Ferdia found fame on the silver screen starring in Sing Street, as well as roles in the multi-Oscar-winning film CODA, Pistol (Danny Boyle), and Four Letters of Love (starring Pierce Brosnan and Helena Bonham-Carter).
The Fynches spent much of 2024 hunkered down in the studio together refining tracks. Now, these musical blueprints have developed into a full statement album, set for release on 7th October 2025. With brooding ballads, raucous crowd pleasers, and even a requiem interlude, the band’s début is marked by dynamism, playfulness, and musical virtuosity. Uncommonly, brothers Ferdia and Oisín sometimes exchange lead vocal duties across songs – at times even verses – balancing their timbres in synergy.
Culture Kid
Culture Kid is the solo project of Irish multi-instrumentalist Fionn Hennessy Hayes. Having spent the past decade or so as a sought after touring musician, Fionn has performed with some of Ireland’s most exciting artists, including Cian Ducrot, Pa Sheehy, Rowan, Stephanie Rainey, John Blek, Clare Sands, Tiz McNamara and many more.
Now, taking his first steps as Culture Kid, he is carving a fresh path by blending intimate & honest lyricism with expansive & melodic soundscapes.
November marks a milestone for Culture Kid, with the release of his debut EP. To celebrate, he sets out on a mini Irish tour across the country.
With a debut that feels both deeply personal and universally resonant, Culture Kid is carving out his place as a distinctive new voice in Irish Indie/Folk.
